Recent developments in AI technology have created an unprecedented demand for high-quality data to be exchanged between companies and across borders.

Data spaces are a rapidly developing ecosystem that enables efficient and secure data sharing, but they alone are not enough to ensure that data consumers trust the data quality – which means that data sharing is still lagging well behind its potential value for machine learning. At Hannover Messe, we are presenting a joint solution from Fraunhofer ISST and Fujitsu for this challenge in workshops and lectures.

Workshops:

At Hannover Messe 2025, Fujitsu and Fraunhofer ISST present the Levels of Assurance for Data Trustworthiness (Data LoA) Framework. Data LoA provides an intuitive, transparent assessment system that enables data consumers to reliably and efficiently assess third-party data assets and unlock their operational value.

Data LoA eliminates the risks of untrustworthy data. This creates a range of new possibilities for the use of shared data sets, including the application of federated learning in the context of Data Spaces.

IntelliEdge uses the example of metal forming in a press to show that a combination of algorithms for data quality assurance and privacy-oriented federated learning makes an edge AI solution possible that both improves the quality of the production process and is suitable for predictive maintenance. A retrofittable sensor system (smartNOTCH) provides process data in real time, improves data quality through ML processes and ensures data sovereignty through federated learning in edge environments. A plug-and-play solution of the system will be shown at the booth, offering retrofittable sensor systems and universal software components for secure data exchange with edge systems for machine learning.
