DATAMITE

(DATA Monetization, Interoperability, Trading & Exchange)

DATAMITE provides a technical framework that helps European companies and public administrations to overcome data challenges and capitalise on their data. In doing so, DATAMITE focuses on key areas such as data governance, quality, security and sharing, while ensuring compatibility with existing technologies. The project improves the monetisation of data internally, by improving the trust and quality of the data, and externally, by enabling users to control their data, thus opening up new revenue streams. It also supports digital innovation hubs in integrating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into the data economy.

The challenge

DATAMITE faces several challenges, including improving digital technologies and frameworks to make data discoverable, fairly priced and securely sharable. It aims to develop training materials to qualify employees to use technology effectively. Ensuring data interoperability through standards and common data models is an important focus. The project aims to develop practical end-to-end systems and data spaces that can be used in various applications. It also supports the introduction of common European data spaces, establishes links to existing data sharing systems, and contributes to Europe's technological autonomy in data sharing.

Our service

As part of the DATAMITE project, the consortium is receiving comprehensive support from Fraunhofer ISST in various areas. The focus is on supporting DATAMITE in connecting and integrating data spaces, both at the conceptual level and in practical implementation. This enables rapid integration of new technologies and reduces technical barriers. We are also promoting networking and exchange with current European data space initiatives. In particular, close cooperation with the Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC) is sought to maximise cooperation and exchange between initiatives and participating partners.

The result

DATAMITE will significantly strengthen the role of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) as a source of inspiration for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by facilitating their access to important hardware resources and comprehensive training. As an intuitive and open-source platform, DATAMITE removes cost barriers and enables companies to optimise internal value creation through better data management, quality and security. DATAMITE will also play a crucial role in employee training by providing technical, economic and legal training materials, while fostering a vibrant and supportive community to help companies transition into the data economy. Furthermore, DATAMITE will boost data trading and sharing through initiatives such as EOSC, IDSA, Gaia-X and AI4EU by providing tools for data sovereignty and interoperability to strengthen trust and usability and ultimately improve the possibilities for external commercialisation.
